Our organic espresso Miraflor is an organically grown, fair trade coffee that is gently refined in Leipzig using drum roasting. 

Origin: Estelí, Nicaragua

Cultivation height: 1000 - 1450 meters

Variety: Arabica (Bourbon, Catuai, Catimor, Caturra etc.)

Taste: Chocolate, Bergamot

Origin

Around 200 small farmers from the Nicaraguan cooperative association Miraflor cultivate Arabica coffee in mixed crops in the Miraflor nature reserve. They produce a very balanced organic coffee with a fine acidity and chocolatey aroma.

With the money from the Fair Trade Social Fund, UCA Miraflor has set up a health fund and provides scholarships. It also finances projects that help small farmers improve their cultivation techniques.

Gentle long-term roasting

The coffee is carefully refined in Leipzig so that its aroma can develop optimally. We roast it for at least 12 minutes in small batches of 15 kg each in a drum roaster.

Doing business differently

Café Chavalo works directly with small farmers' cooperatives in Nicaragua and is regularly on site. What's special: Our trading partners in Nicaragua, the cooperative associations Miraflor and Tierra Nueva, are themselves members of Café Chavalo eG. We want to show on a small scale that other ways of doing business are possible. Fair and direct!
