The coffee is a balanced blend of the Arabica varieties Catuai, Lempira and Pacamara.

It comes from Colombia (70%) and Honduras (30%).

  • Body: 6 of 11
  • Sweetness: 5 out of 11

If you want to know exactly: when we tasted it, we tasted cranberry, grapefruit and black tea notes.

The coffee is great as a filter coffee, as a French press and when prepared in the Karlsbader pot.

Origin:

The name of the coffee comes from Inca mythology. There, Mama Cocha is the protector of the seas, sailors and fishermen.

The “Mama Cocha” organic coffee has sailed more than 7,200 nautical miles. Its beans grow at an altitude of 1,200 to 1,800 meters (Sierra Nevada/Colombia) or 1,700 to 1,900 meters (Marcala/Honduras).

The coffee farmers of the Asoprocafé cooperative in northern Colombia work exclusively according to the guidelines of organic farming. Their fields are in the Sierra Nevada near the port city of Santa Marta. The route from the cooperative to the port, where the coffee is usually loaded onto a cargo sailing ship at the end of January, is therefore very short.

The Honduran coffee portion comes from the mountains of the Marcala/La Paz coffee region. It is grown by the three Romero brothers, among others, on small, shady plots near the border with El Salvador.
