Roast level: City Roast
Project: Solidarity farming
We are trying out completely new ways of fair and direct trade relations: Together with the Iller-Lech World Shop Network, we launched the world's first global solidarity agriculture (Solawi) for coffee in 2021. In this pioneering project, our Nicaraguan coffee farmers and German consumers work together and share responsibility, risk and success! Our project partners are 15 small farming families from Nicaragua who grow coffee - organic quality - in a nature reserve in a way that is compatible with nature and in mixed culture with their vegetables for their own needs.
Origin
Our WIRi coffee from the cooperative Unión de Cooperativas Héroes y Mártires de Miraflor in Nicaragua is grown in small mixed crop plots at an altitude of 1,250m in harmony with nature. Miraflor is a nature reserve known for its huge variety of orchids and numerous bird species. The project therefore not only supports sustainable agriculture and the livelihood of small businesses, but also makes a valuable contribution to climate and nature conservation, biodiversity and the preservation of soils and cultural landscapes.
Gentle long-term roasting
The coffee is roasted slowly and gently, allowing its aroma to develop optimally.
