Origin

The small farmers of the Tierra Nueva and Miraflor cooperative associations cultivate Arabica coffee in mixed crops in the highlands of Nicaragua. They produce a very balanced organic coffee with a fine, mild acidity and a chocolatey aroma.

The cooperatives use the money from the Fair Trade social funds to buy school materials, improve rural infrastructure, and provide scholarships. They also use it to finance projects that help small farmers improve their cultivation techniques.

The coffee is gently refined and can therefore develop its aroma optimally.

Conviction offender

World trade is possible beyond profit maximization and a cut-throat mentality. Café Chavalo believes in this, as do our partners at Tierra Nueva in Nicaragua. They are committed to a solidarity-based economy that serves the well-being of all involved and treats our environment responsibly.

Climate-friendly coffee

In cooperation with myclimate, we have calculated the carbon footprint of each bag of coffee. In addition to cultivation in Nicaragua, all transport, roasting and packaging were taken into account. Distribution to your home and disposal of packaging waste are also part of the calculation. But that's just the beginning: We're obviously looking at the numbers closely and trying to reduce emissions wherever possible. But where the production of CO2 cannot be avoided even with the best will in the world, we want to take an even closer look in the future to see how it can be compensated for as sensibly as possible. A strong partnership

Future prospects are also the core theme of the educational and social enterprise CJD in Germany. That is why we want to support each other in our work and have developed a CJD edition of our coffee. For every 1kg bag sold, 1 euro is donated to the CJD - for the 250g bag it is 0.50 euros.

However, many children and young people never get the chance to discover their hidden abilities. This not only has tragic consequences for the lives of individuals, but also affects the well-being of society as a whole. More than 10,000 employees help every day at over 350 locations in daycare centers, schools, vocational training centers and training companies, in clinics, rehabilitation facilities, residential groups and workshops to create real prospects.
