“Saarkaff” is an innovative coffee project by Aktion 3.Welt Saar eV. Together with the cooperatives Café Chavalo and Miraflor (Leipzig / Nicaragua), it is realizing one of the first solidarity agriculture projects on a global level: fairly traded organic coffee from Nicaragua. The coffee bears the image of the Saarschleife on the label.
Origin
The "Saarkaff" is grown in small mixed crop plots at an altitude of 1,250 m in harmony with nature. Miraflor is a nature reserve that is known for its huge variety of orchids and numerous bird species. The project therefore not only supports sustainable agriculture and the security of small businesses, but also makes a valuable contribution to climate and nature conservation, biodiversity and the preservation of soils and cultural landscapes.
Gentle long-term roasting
The coffee is roasted slowly and gently, allowing its aroma to develop optimally.
