The history of cocktails: Daiquiri
Il Daiquiri (si pronuncia "daikiri") prende il nome da una città mineraria di Cuba. Nasce su ispirazione di Jennings Cox, un ingegnere minerario americano del 1900, che, avendo finito il gin durante un cocktail party, fu costretto a improvvisare sostituendolo con del rum, più facile da reperire a Cuba. Qualche tempo dopo, il daiquiri irrompe sulla scena sociale di New York e quando il proibizionismo entra in vigore, 20 anni dopo, i turisti americani volano a Cuba chiedendo espressamente il daiquiri.
